Reverence BBQ Ribs

No judgements here!

What better way to celebrate the middle of Summer than to fire up the grill!

I'm super excited to share this recipe with you not only because it's stupid delicious, but because they are a fan fave... As you know, eating ribs can get messy! It's one thing to share a nice meal with someone, but getting your hands dirty, ripping meat off the bone, and getting covered in sauce with friends really means those you share these moments with are more like family. For this one, I encourage you to live savagely and forget the knife and fork! Like I said, there's no judgements here, only love.

(&& I mean that in every possible sense)

Lets get started :)

The most delicious ribs you will ever wait 4 hours to eat!!!

Serves 4-6

The equipment:

An oven, a bbq grill, a roasting pan, aluminum foil , tongs and a bottle of wine, for drinking of course!

The Meat

Two (2) Racks of Baby Back Ribs

When you get them from the butcher, ask them to cut them in half and remove the membrane. Unless you feel adventurous and want to wait longer for your ribs…Just sayin’

At this point, if you are ready to cook the ribs, let them sit out for about an hour to room temp. You can tickle the ribs by adding the rub on them now.

For the Rub

You can either buy our secret special rub from Reverence Café's Grab & Go, order it online at Reverencecatering.com, or you can make this version yourself.

Up to you!

1/2 cup, Packed brown sugar

2 tablespoon garlic powder

1 tablespoon onion powder

1 tablespoon chili powder

1 tablespoon salt, kosher

1 teaspoon black pepper

1 teaspoon cayenne pepper

1 teaspoon dreid oregano

Mix in a bowl until it is combined.

Lick your finger and taste the mix to make sure it tastes delish!

For the Sauce

1/2 cup Chicken Broth

2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar

The prepping

If you have had the rib rack cut in half, tear off four (4) pieces of aluminum foil for each 1/2 rack. You will be wrapping the ribs in the foil. Each rack should be placed on the foil, rubbed with the spices. Now, you will want to swaddle the ribs in the foil and leave a lower corner exposed, for the drippings. (you will be making your own, well mine really, BBQ sauce with it.

In the roasting pan you will pour the chicken broth and the apple cider vinegar, then place in a roasting pan, cover with foil and the lid. You will need both! No cheating!!!

Here is the tough part… you have to leave them in the oven for 3 hours.. Yup, three hours @ 275*.

Trust me its worth it.

After the three hours and three bottles of wine, kidding, maybe…. Remove the ribs from the pan, unwrap them. Be careful as there will be juices stuck in the foil, do not burn yourself.

Transfer the liquid to a small sauce pan. You will need to reduce the sauce by half.

For the Grill

Pre-heat the grill, keep on medium low

Place the racks on the grill meat side soon first then turn over after 10 minutes.. You will repeat this step about four times until you get a nice crust on the meat side and a little char on the bone side.

For the BBQ Sauce

The drippings from the pan, reduce by half

In a bowl mix together:

2 tablespoons tomato paste

2 tablespoons honey

1 tablespoon molasses

1/4 cup pineapple juice

1/4 cup brown sugar

1/4 cup tomato sauce

Add to the pot and stir…. Cook until its talking to you

So while the ribs are in the oven, make your side dishes… or order them from us.. you can also order the Reverence BBQ sauce from us, hell you can order the ribs from us but whats the fun in that?

Remember...

Make it with Love, it always better that way.
